Angie McMahon – Light Sides – EP Zip Download
Australian singer-songwriter Angie McMahon has unveiled her new EP Light Sides, a collection of five songs recorded concurrently with her critically acclaimed album Light, Dark, Light Again.
The EP was announced while McMahon was on a headline tour throughout the United States. McMahon released a new song titled “Untangling” along with the news. It’s a cozy tune that has the same urgent yet intimate vibe that permeates the entire new album. “Untangling” comes after “Just Like North,” which Consequence described as “a captivating listen that evokes memories of Florence + the Machine.”
Specifically, McMahon struggled to finish the song “Untangling,” which she had been working on in demo form on her phone since the beginning of the album. She claims that because the song was written about a person who is very involved in her life, she never felt that the untangling process was complete. Between stops on her recent Making It Through tour, the song was recorded at her longtime collaborator Alex O’Gorman’s studio in suburban Melbourne, Australia.
It is the only track on Light Sides that was completed with her beloved live band, which consists of Lachlan O’Kane (drums/percussion), Jess Ellwood (guitar), Stella Farnan (keys/synth), and O’Gorman (bass).
