innate, motivated, and empowered. These are the main lessons to be learned from SOFT, the second BONES UK album. The unabashedly rebellious, Grammy-nominated band returns with a visceral, anthemic take on their future-rock mélange of swaggering guitars, gritty electronics, and love-yourself / think-for-yourself lyrics, building on the success of their 2019 self-titled debut.
Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins and Michael Shuman, the bassist of Queens of the Stone Age, are among the contributors to SOFT, which was written and produced over the course of five years in a variety of cities including Texas, London, Los Angeles, and Chicago.
Vocalist and guitarist Rosie Bones remarked, “It’s everything you loved about the first record, turned up.” “Maintaining a scrappy, raw, and authentic vibe with just the right amount of electronic beats to satisfy industrial dance enthusiasts and heartfelt songs to captivate our romantic side.”
Established in London in 2014, BONES UK initially caught the interest of legendary guitarist Jeff Beck, who invited them to collaborate on his 2016 album Loud Hailer and accompany him on tour in the United States and Japan.
Following their move to Los Angeles, the pair dropped the highly regarded BONES UK, which has amassed over 66 million Spotify plays. The Grammy-nominated single “Pretty Waste” and a popular rendition of David Bowie’s “I’m Afraid of Americans” are both featured on the album. Howard Stern invited BONES UK to play on his SiriusXM show after Loudwire named it one of the greatest rock albums of the year.
BONES UK’s explosive live performances featured dates with Stone Temple Pilots, The Struts, and Tom Morello, and were finished on stage by drummer Heavy. Next, the epidemic struck.
